Our verdict
Pet areas, playrooms, and living spaces where inexpensive pan-and-tilt coverage matters more than fine image detail.
The Kasa EC70 uses a motorized 1080p camera to cover a room with 360-degree horizontal movement, motion tracking, and four-point patrol. It can record continuously to a microSD card without a cloud subscription, which makes it practical for checking pets, a play area, or a shared living space. The 15fps video and basic tracking are adequate for everyday monitoring but can miss fast or close movement. Choose it for inexpensive room coverage, not for high-detail evidence or quiet, precise tracking.
What we like
- Motorized pan and tilt cover far more of a room than a fixed camera.
- microSD supports 24/7 loop recording without a subscription.
- Motion tracking and four-point patrol automate basic room coverage.
- Live view, basic alerts, and two-way audio work without Kasa Care.
Keep in mind
- 1080p at 15fps provides limited detail for fast movement or distant faces.
- Tracking can lose quick targets or subjects close to the camera.
- Pan movement has some delay and audible motor noise.
- Indoor-only, wired, and limited to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Who should buy
Pet areas, playrooms, and living spaces where inexpensive pan-and-tilt coverage matters more than fine image detail.
Who should skip
Outdoor use, silent or discreet monitoring, fast-subject tracking, or high-resolution identification.

FAQ
Can the Kasa EC70 record continuously?
Yes. With a compatible microSD card installed and formatted, it can run 24/7 loop recording.
What works without Kasa Care?
Live view, basic notifications, two-way audio, and microSD recording remain available. Cloud event history requires Kasa Care.
What is the EC70 microSD limit?
The exact ASIN lists up to 256GB. Some newer hardware documents mention 512GB, so check the hardware revision before buying a larger card.
Does 360-degree coverage mean a 360-degree live image?
No. The motor can rotate through the room, but the camera displays the view in front of the lens at any given moment.
